I
love this word.
August
28th 2015 I took a chance.
A
simple chance on me.
I
was on the subway here in Toronto and you only get a small window of
opportunity when the train comes above ground.
I
found myself at Victoria Park Station looking at my facebook postings and
noticed that Canada’s Largest Bead Wholesaler John Bead Corp Inc. had posted about their new Tropical Punch Flower Makers.
I
had recently had used those very same flower makers to make some beaded flowers
for my entry of 3 handmade beaded flowers at our local fair.
Those
flowers placed first at the fair.
I
took a chance that day .I put it out there. I posted my beaded flower to the
John Bead facebook page as an example of what I am doing with their Flower
Maker. I believe when you put things out in the world magical things can
happen.
They
loved it.
I
came home that night and before going to bed checked my messages and there it
was a personal message from John Bead’s Creative Director Fernando
DaSilvawanting to discuss my flowers.
As
I sat at the computer reading my message I could not believe my eyes.
The
words popped out at me.
“Hello darling”
“Creative Director for John Bead”
“Your flower is fantastic”
“Create some for me”
“Collaborate with you”
Fernando
DaSilva
What!….are
you kidding me. OMG!
I
had to read that message like 6 times to really take it in.
This
girl went to sleep with a huge smile that night…feeling blessed, creative,
inspired and truly happy.
Fast
forward to 7 months later…several beaded flowers and butterflies later. I have
formed a beautiful collaboration with Fernando and John Bead.
I’ve
met several of the key players at John Bead…their creative team is awesome to
work with and I love creating for them and with them.
My
pieces have travelled the world participating in Tradeshows and Fashion shows.
They
have been in advertisements and banners.
I’m
simply over the moon…nothing builds your confidence like the feedback you get
when you create something everyone likes. Something that makes me smile and I
hope others do to.
So
I hope you take away the moral of my story.
Serendipity…a
chance happening.
It
only would have taken a second to think twice. Lose my confidence. Not believe
in myself and my creative ability and the past 7 months never would have
happened.
So
please believe in the work you do..the love you put into it..and never second
guess your creative process and journey.
Create
your own Serendipity ♥
